Admission process to school differ depending on the type of school that you are applying. Generally there are the following types of education institutions in Singapore
- Government, Government-Aided and Independent Schools
These includes primary schools, secondary schools, and junior colleges. Admission to these schools usually require passing of a placement test by the school or Certification Test that is organised by the Principals Academy Inc (PAI). - Local Universities/Polytechnics/Institute of Technical Education
Admission to these institution can usually be done online. Check the website of the institution of your choice to find course requirements. Some of them require placement test or interview. - Private Schools, Foreign System Schools/International Schools
To apply for a course in these schools, please check their respective websites or contact them directly. Please also check that the private schools are registered with MOE. There are many private schools in Singapore but not all of them are registered with MOE. With recent cases of private schools giving fake certificates or not conducting proper course, you might want to be careful when applying to private schools. Please check their reputation and status as well as reviews in the news or other media.
